On Easter, we always announce the Chief Marshals for our Annual Feast Celebration.
For 117 years, the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel has united this community, our town – indeed this whole area of the State of Rhode Island – in celebrating the Italian heritage that first began this Feast, and continues to unite the Parish in honoring Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Now, in the year 2015, Mount Carmel is a vibrant community of faith, which encompasses so many people of so many ethnic backgrounds. Truly, so very Catholic in nature.
Indeed, chief Marshal of the Feast is the highest designation that a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel can receive, as they are chosen because of how they have participated loyally, faithfully, and tirelessly in the life of the parish; and how they will in faith, lead us, giving honor to the Blessed Mother of God, Queen of Carmel.
Our Chief Marshals this year are most wonderful parishioners who are known to all of you, most especially, to the youth of our parish. They have worked at the Feast and at Feast events for so many years. Both are Eucharistic ministers. Both have been, and continue to be, adult chaperons on our youth mission trip to Nicaragua from its inception.
Known for their wonderful waffles and desserts, she is our school board chairperson. He is a self-employed electrical engineer and does volunteer robotics engineer work for Bishop Stang High School in North Dartmouth. She is assistant principal of academics at Bishop Stang, and works in prison ministry at the Dartmouth House of Detention. Their daughter Liz, was our Tom Vendituoli Faith in Action Award winner a few years back; and their son Rob served Mass as an MC for many years.
We are overjoyed to announce that our Chief Marshals for 2015 will be Kathy and Bob Ruginis.
