Faith Formation

Know Christ. Serve Christ. Be Christ.

“Concerning our faith: God commanded us to teach it to our children; that the next generation might know it, that they may rise up and teach their children, so that they should set their hope in God, and not forget His works.” Psalm 78: 5-7

Welcome to OLMC’S Faith Formation site. We invite you to take a few moments to learn about who we are and what we do.

Parents are the primary and most important teachers of the Catholic faith. As partners, we provide the support and means to help you in this most important endeavor.

The aim of our program is a personal relationship with God characterized by a sacramental life, a lifelong pattern of prayer, Christian service, and growth in understanding the Catholic Faith. It is intended to stress that “at the heart of catechesis we find the Person of Jesus of Nazareth.” Our goal is to put the students not only in touch but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ: only He can lead us to the love of the Father in the Spirit and make us share in the life of the Holy Trinity. (CT 5)

Our meetings are held on Sundays and consist of participation in mass followed by class time. Our wonderful teachers are volunteers from our parish and are expected to live in a way that supports the Church’s mission and moral teachings. All of us thoroughly go through a safe environment training program.

Preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and Holy First Communion is a two year program. Students are required to complete first grade and will receive the sacraments in the second grade.

Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is also a two year program. Confirmation is received in the ninth grade. All Candidates must complete eighth grade faith formation classes or in Catholic school.

Below you will find some additional information: our guidelines, our schedules, and a link to our registration form.

In the Gospel of Mark 10: 14 Jesus said “Let the children come to me; do not prevent them for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Thank you for allowing us to work with your family in this mission.
